My name is Marie Baker. I am the play therapist at Chrysalis Play Therapy in Wellington.
During my two decades working as an Early Childhood Teacher, my main focus was the wellbeing of the children I worked with. Many times, there were children who needed more support than I could offer. Now, having further developed my knowledge and skills, and being able to work with children one-to-one, I am able to make a difference for children in a way I wasn’t previously able to.
My master’s degree included training in humanistic play therapy, directive play therapy, and systemic play therapy (working with whole families).
While I mainly work humanistically, I sometimes integrate the other approaches into my work, using both my professional knowledge and my knowledge of individual children and their families to guide my work.
